Astronomy research

I’ve been interested in astronomy from an early age, and studied it in my final year of a Natural Sciences B.A. (Hons.) at Cambridge. I did a Ph.D. in astronomy at the University of Edinburgh, assessing the formation of the Galaxy through low-mass stars. You can read details in my Ph.D. thesis (Edinburgh University Library; or contact me for a digital version) and an associated journal paper.

Following my Ph.D. I went onto a NASA-JPL postdoctoral fellowship at the American Museum of Natural History, New York, helping to design and build a coronagraph to directly image planets around other stars. Some of the details of my contribution are described in an Astrophysical Journal paper.
